NSERC Supported Research Projects:
Why Partner with The Software Engineering Decision Support Laboratory?
The Software Engineering Decision Support Laboratory at the University
of Calgary includes some of the world's leading researchers in software
engineering decision support.
The team partners with selected companies involved in software development
to collaborate on projects that research and develop higher engineering
standards for software development. The laboratory also works with
companies to improve their software development process through
training and consultancy.
What
results can partner companies expect?
- A
solution for software development – a solution that meets most
of the inherent objectives and constraints, is reasonable to implement,
cost-effective and provides for post-mortem impact analysis. Typically,
these solutions are hard to find.
- Decision
support for optimising product, process, and quality parameters
to create maximal value, for example, the impact of factors such
as estimation of product quality after inspections, reinspection
decisions, buy-or-make decisions.
- Better
understanding of the underlying parameters for software product
and process design decisions at the various stages of the software
lifecycle, including identification of critical components in
software projects.
- Understanding
the relationship between technical parameters and enterprise value-creation,
for example, which set of requirements can be fulfilled with the
given budget and time constraints.
Interested
companies are encouraged to contact Guenther
Ruhe to discuss possible scenarios for working with the research
group.
